Ashurst partner round shrinks to 20 after three record years

Ashurst has promoted 20 lawyers to partner in its 2025 round, down from 30 in last year’s record intake.
12 of the new partners are based in London, with a focus on high-priority areas such as disputes, corporate and projects.
Ashurst has promoted 20 lawyers to partner in its 2025 promotions round, with more than half of the new cohort based in London.
The latest round is notably smaller than 2024’s record-breaking intake of 30 and marks a shift from three consecutive years of expansion.
Still, the firm’s leadership has framed the 2025 promotions as closely aligned with Ashurst’s 2027 growth strategy, with a focus on high-priority areas such as disputes, corporate and projects.
London leads the way
12 of the 20 new partners are based in London. The City office saw promotions across a broad range of practice areas.
Jen McCormick, regional head of Ashurst Advance - the firm’s legal ops and legal managed services arm - was promoted in Glasgow. She is the firm's first internal partner promotion in Ashurst Advance.
Four new partners were made up across Paris, Madrid and Frankfurt, with the final three appointments coming from Australia.
