Slaughter and May has promoted six lawyers to partner.
A bigger round than last year's five-strong cohort, but smaller than 2023's round of 10.
Slaughter and May has promoted six lawyers to its partnership, marking a slight uptick from last year’s round of five, but still a way off 2023’s bumper cohort of ten.
Corporate remains a cornerstone, with two new partners added, while disputes, projects and competition also see continued investment.
Here's the lineup:
- Alex Bulfin - Competition
- Edward Couzens - Restructuring and Insolvency
- David Griffith-Jones - Corporate
- Olga Ladrowska - Disputes and Investigations
- Daniel Mewton - Infrastructure, Energy and Natural Resources
- Jack Wharton - Corporate
Senior partner Roland Turnill said the group “will each bring valued experience and insight to their respective practice areas, the firm, and our clients.”
Bigger picture
Slaughters continues to buck the trend of aggressive lateral hiring seen at other City firms, staying true to its promote-from-within model - albeit with a more measured approach than some rivals.
It’s only ever made two lateral partner hires in London - disputes partner Gayathri Kamalanathan joined from Danske Bank in 2020, following pensions expert Daniel Schaffer who joined from HSF in 2017. Both are still with the firm.
